Photogrammetry - 3D Reality Capture

Came across this gorgeous statue at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi last year. The sculpture is called “Surya The Resplendent One” (aka the “Resplendent Sun”). Scanned it with my iPhone 11 Pro, collecting two stacked loops of 4K video and run through offline photogrammetry. Came out fairly well.

The iconic Victorian style Painted Ladies in San Francisco Photogrammetry: 1000 images ➟ 6.2 million points

30 custom painted Sea Lion statues are sprinkled across the embarcadero to celebrate 30 years of Sea Lions in San Francisco. Here’s one I call “psychedelic seal” – reminds me of an old Steve Vai swirled ibanez guitar. Learn more about this effort to protect, restore and inspire conservation of Sea Lions by clicking on the annotations in the 3D model. Workflow: iPhone 11 Pro 4k 24p video → Photogrammetry

Reconstructed from two 30 second 4K video clips recording on an iPhone 11 Pro. Processed in Reality Capture.

Photogrammetry scan of Pine Tree Obelisk in San Francisco, created by Joan Brown in 1987

Dense 3D reconstruction from 81 photos → 2 million points. In memory of Mahatma Gandhi, who left the earth 73 years ago on January 30th, 1948. This bronze statue of #Gandhi was sculpted in 1988 by Zlatko Pounov and Steven Lowe, and is perched waterside at Ferry Building along the San Francisco Embarcadero. Next time I’ll have a nodal ninja pole to capture and finish off the top!
